Fresno State women's volleyballBulldogs dig in during September
Fresno State volleyball offers fans a busy September in the Save Mart Center, including “Proud to be an American Night” at the Sept. 11 game against Oregon State. All military personnel and fire and police department employees will receive two free tickets by showing their badge or ID at the box office. The Sept. 17 match against New Mexico State will be an opportunity for faculty and staff to purchase tickets for $1 each. There are other promotions for other matches. Click here for details. Bulldog football has heavy TV schedule
ESPN networks will broadcast three Fresno State football games this season and the Bulldog Sports Network (BSN) will add five road contests for fans who can’t get to the games. BSN’s first broadcast on KFRE, Channel 59, will cover Fresno State’s visit to Oregon at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 15. ESPN will broadcast Fresno State’s games against Boise State (Oct. 26), Kansas State (Nov. 24) and New Mexico State (Nov. 30). Click here for details.

KMJ radio continues football coverage
Live broadcasts of every Fresno State football game are scheduled on KMJ-AM 580 with Bill Woodward, now in his 36th season covering Bulldog sports, and former Fresno State quarterback Jordan Christensen. Coverage includes two hours of pregame coverage and a postgame show. Also on KMJ is“The Pat Hill Show” at 1 p.m. Mondays, a call-in show hosted by Woodward.

Fresno State away until Sept. 29
Fresno State football returns to Bulldog Stadium at 7 p.m. Sept. 29 for a Western Athletic Conference game against Louisiana Tech. A special ticket package for youth sports teams is available for that game. For information and to purchase tickets, log on to www.gobulldogs.com or call 278-DOGS.

Bob and Barbara MyersRon MetzlerBulldog Foundation presents awards to alumni
Bob and Barbara Myers were honored with the eighth Bulldog Spirit Award at the 2007 Football Kickoff Dinner. Bob Myers was a football student manager during his time at Fresno State, and his wife, Barbara, was a cheerleader. The two have been strong supporters of Fresno State athletics for many years. The Bulldog Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award, presented at the same time, went to Ron Metzler, a donor since the 1960s, a founding member of AgOne and a member of the Viticulture alumni Association board of directors. Volleyball plays on radio and TV
Comcast cable’s Channel 14 will broadcast three Fresno State volleyball games during September. The Bulldogs’ home matches against Western Athletic Conference opponents Louisiana Tech (7 p.m. Sept. 15), Nevada (7 p.m. Sept. 27) and Utah State (1 p.m. Sept. 29) are among 18 women’s sports events Comcast will broadcast. Radio coverage of Bulldog volleyball is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 11 against Oregon State and Sept. 27 against Nevada.

Fresno State’s soccer team will begin defending its 2007 Western Athletic Conference regular-season title in October, but has two nonconference contests in September at Bulldog Stadium. The Bulldogs host UTEP at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 and Cal State Fullerton at 2 p.m. Sept. 30, when fans can get autographs from team members. Fans who show a ticket stub from the Sept. 29 Fresno State football game against Louisiana Tech will be admitted at no charge to the Sept. 30 soccer match.

'Lights Out' promotion for Boise State game
Tickets are available for Fresno State’s Oct. 26 football game against Fiesta Bowl and defending Western Athletic Conference champion Boise State. Fresno State athletics is asking all fans to wear black to the game in Bulldog Stadium to “put the lights out” on the Broncos. Official black game day T-shirts are on sale at the Bulldog Shop and Fresno Gottschalks stores.

Bulldog Marching Band seeks support
Sponsors are being sought to help pay costs of the Fresno State Marching Band’s trip to Reno on Oct. 6, when the Bulldog football team battles Nevada. “Band on the Road” ticket packages are available as incentives. Call 278-DOGS for information.

Cross Country

Men’s & Women’s Golf
The men’s and women’s golf teams will hit the links this fall as they travel to several tournaments. The men’s team will be on the road for five events, starting with the Oregon State Invitational on September 17-18 in Corvallis, Ore., and then the UW Husky Invitational October 1-2 in Seattle.,. The women’s golf team will begin the fall season at the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic in Fort Collins, Colo., September 10-11, and the following week at the Salbasgeon Suites Invitational in Corvallis from Sept. 17-18. Cross country begins season in Irvine
The Fresno State cross country team will compete in six invitationals this fall before heading to Logan, Utah, for the WAC Championships on Oct. 27. The opener will be at UC Irvine on Saturday, Sept. 8.
