A Homecoming sports week to remember
Three sports will be on display during Homecoming Week at Fresno State, beginning with the Bulldog volleyball team entertaining Cal State Bakersfield at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Save Mart Center. Soccer takes center stage in Bulldog Stadium at 3 p.m. Oct. 19 for a Western Athletic Conference game against Louisiana Tech, which will be followed by the big Homecoming Pep Rally at 5 p.m. inside Bulldog Boulevard in the Red Lot. At 2 p.m. Oct. 20, long-time Fresno State rival San Jose State visits Bulldog Stadium for a 2 p.m. WAC football game. The busy week’s schedule concludes at 2 p.m. Oct. 21 when soccer returns to the Bulldog Stadium turf when Fresno State hosts WAC rival Utah State.

Live broadcast coverage of all Bulldog football in October
All four Fresno State football games scheduled during October will be televised, highlighted by the national broadcast of the 6 p.m. Oct. 26 Western Athletic Conference showdown against Boise State from Bulldog Stadium. That game will air on one of the ESPN networks. KFRE, CW 59 (Comcast cable Ch. 5) will broadcast Bulldog games at Nevada (Oct. 6) and Idaho (Oct. 13) and the homecoming game against San Jose State (Oct. 20). Radio broadcasts of Fresno State football are on KMJ, AM 580, on ESPN Deportes, AM 1600, in Spanish.
Engineering Alumni golf tourney opens Homecoming Week
The unofficial start of Homecoming Week at Fresno State occurs Oct. 12 with the sixth annual Engineering Alumni Chapter golf tournament at Riverside Golf Club. Proceeds from the event, which begins with check-in at 11:30 a.m., benefit the Col. Rick Husband Memorial Alumni Scholarship Fund. The entry deadline is Friday, Oct. 5. Put the Lights Out promotion for Boise State game
Tickets are available for Fresno State’s nationally televised conference match up against the 2006 Fiesta Bowl Champion Boise State Broncos. Kickoff is scheduled at 6 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium. Fans are asked to wear black to “put the lights out” on Boise State. Official t-shirts for the occasion are on sale at The Bulldog Shop and at Fresno-area Gottschalks stores. Volleyball on the air
Comcast cable’s Channel 14 will broadcast coverage of Fresno State volleyball twice during October. The games against Boise State (Thursday, Oct. 4) and Cal State Bakersfield (Oct. 16) begin at 7 p.m. women’s sports. Radio 1430 ESPN /790 ESPN will broadcast the Oct. 17 nonconference match against crosstown rival Fresno Pacific.
Soccer promotions planned throughout month
Fresno State soccer plans promotions at all its October games. The game in Bulldog Stadium at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, against San Francisco will be Youth Soccer Day with postgame autographs. The 7 p.m. Oct. 12 Western Athletic Conference home opener against San Jose State is Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night, with admission just $1. The 3 p.m. Oct. 19 conference game against Louisiana Tech will be followed by the Homecoming Pep Rally. And the 2 p.m. Oct. 22 conference game against Utah State will be followed by an autograph session. The San Francisco and Utah State games will air live on ESPN Radio, AM 790.
Men’s tennis hosts Bulldog Classic
The Fresno State men’s tennis team will host the Bulldog Classic at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center Friday-Sunday, Oct. 5-7. Admission is free.
SMU will test Fresno State equestrian team
The Fresno State equestrian team will host SMU at the Student Horse Center beginning at 9 a.m. Oct. 27. Admission is free.

‘Bulldog Book’ offers coupon bargains, help for athletics
Copies of the second annual “Bulldog Book,” a fund-raising coupon book sales from which benefit Fresno State athletics, are for $30. Coupons good at Fresno and Clovis area merchants provide discounts or free merchandise and services, including food, hair care, auto maintenance and recreation. Group sales plans also are available.
Cross country on the road this season
Fresno State’s cross country team is on the road throughout the season before traveling to Logan, Utah, for the Western Athletic Conference championships on Oc. 27. The Bulldogs run in the UC San Diego Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 6, and Oct. 13 at the Cal Poly Invitational. Click here for details.
