 Arena Theatre renamed for Dennis and Cheryl Woods
The Arena Theatre in the Speech Arts Building has been renamed the Dennis and Cheryl Woods Theatre in tribute to their $250,000 donation that triggered a matching gift from the Harry C. Mitchell Trust for cultural advancement. Students will benefit from new lighting and sound in the theatre and from improvements to the green room and makeup area. Audiences soon will see recovered seat cushions. In 2006, the Woodses agreed to help find donors for the upgrade project, but ended up being the project’s main donors. A dedication ceremony was held Oct. 19. A reception in honor of the Woods’ is scheduled after the 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, performance of “Doubt” in the theater. Click here for details.
