Jan and Bud RichterRichter Center for Community Engagement, Service-Learning named
California State University trustees approved the naming of the Bud and Jan Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning at Fresno State. The center is supported by a $3.5 million gift from the Richters, who are alumni and six-decade supporters of the university. Their gift will help the university achieve its goal of providing 1 million hours of annual service to the community by the end of its centennial year in 2011. Bud Richter said he and his wife were raised to follow the Biblical instruction to “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” A reception was held to thank the Richters, co-chairs of the Campaign for Fresno State, for their gift and to dedicate the center in their names.
