Organist Preston is next Keyboard Concert soloist
The Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concerts and the American Guild of Organists’ San Joaquin chapter will host organist Mary Preston in concert at 3 p.m. Jan. 13 in the Concert Hall. The resident organist and principal with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Preston has performed with orchestras worldwide and also as a soloist. Click here for details.
Alumnus, photojournalist Gauthier exhibits work on campus
Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Robert Gauthier, an alumnus, will be on campus Jan. 17 for several events culminating in the opening of an exhibition of his work at the President’s Gallery in the Thomas Administration Building. Gauthier, who works for the Los Angeles Times, comes to campus as part of the new College of Arts and Humanities Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series. Gauthier will speak with students throughout the day and will attend a public reception from 6:30 to 8 p.m. opening his exhibit. Trumpet Festival takes Concert Hall stage Jan.18
On Jan. 18, The Fresno State Trumpet Festival will blend guest-artist performances, master classes and ensemble experiences at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 18 in the Concert Hall. Music faculty members Michael Caldwell and Lloyd Ellis are organizing the event, registration for which costs $6. Details: 278.2654.
Tennessee Williams one-man play debuts Jan. 18
The Fresno premiere of the one-man play, “Confessions of a Nightingale,” a one-man play based on conversations with playwright Tennessee Williams, makes its Fresno premiere at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 18 and 19 at the Wahlberg Recital Hall.
