Mikey TerronesBulldogs touched by teen’s humanitarian spirit
As the Bulldog football team prepared last month to take on Georgia Tech in the Humanitarian Bowl, Fresno State was touched by a humanitarian story that unfolded in Lompoc involving a youngster inspired by the ‘Dogs. Mikey Terrones died in a traffic crash in 2005, two years after writing a letter as an eighth-grade assignment in which he shared his dream of attending Fresno State, playing Bulldog, then pro football and giving back to help “schools, hospitals, homeless and my grandpa for his kidney.” News of a toy drive in his memory prompted Fresno State officials to invite his family to visit the campus and attend a football game next season.
