Literacy effort benefits from hockey attendance
University community members can help support literacy by purchasing tickets for the Fresno Falcons hockey match against the Las Vegas Wranglers on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Save Mart Center. The hockey team will donate $5 of each $12 ticket to the Central Valley Book Bank, which earlier this winter benefited from the collection of thousands of books in competitive programs devised and conducted by Fresno State marketing students. A form to buy tickets for the game can be obtained from cvbookbank@comcast.net with “Request Ticket Form” in the subject line.

Donation drive will benefit Community Food Bank
The Community Food Bank will benefit from a food drive sponsored by the Communication Department that begins Monday, Feb. 4, and continues through Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. The food bank’s stores were depleted by last fall’s Southern California fires and by the winter holidays that hit before there was time to replenish. Collection points for nonperishable food items will be available throughout the Speech Arts Building. For details, contact Barbara Aston at baston@csufresno.edu.

Three-day blood drive begins on campus Feb. 5
The Central California Blood Center and the Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning plans a three-day blood drive on campus beginning from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5. Donations will be accepted from 8;30 a.m.-4 p.m. the following two days at five locations around campus – two at the University Student Union and at the Peters Business Building, Kremen School of Education Building and the Maple Mall. Donors will receive savings coupons for their help. For more information call 224.2900.
