March is Women’s Herstory Month
The Women’s Resource Center is collaborating with several campus departments and organizations to bring a rich variety of lectures, activities, films, and displays to campus marking Women’s Herstory Month. March is an opportunity to recognize and reflect on women’s diverse and historic accomplishments. Among groups working with the Women’s Resource Center are the Women’s Studies Department, the History Department, the Central Valley Cultural Heritage Institute, Career Services, USU Productions and the Army ROTC detachment. 50th Peach Blossom Festival arrives April 3-4
Fresno State hosts the 50th Peach Blossom Festival of Oral Interpretation on April 3-4, welcoming about 6,000 children from nearly 200 elementary schools throughout the San Joaquin Valley to an event sponsored by the Department of Communication. Festival Director Linda Cooley and students plan all aspects of the event. The festival was created to help young people realize the importance of reading literature aloud; to teach them about interpretation, performance, being an audience member; and to provide an opportunity to visit a university campus. Course proposals sought for London Semester

Moreman will lecture on Latino masculinity
“Latino Masculinity as it Relates to Citizenship” will be Shane Moreman’s (Communications) topic at the next presentation of the new Cross Cultural Lecture series at 6 p.m. March 13 in University Center, room 202. Julius Bailey (Africana and American Indian Studies) will lead a discussion on “Carest Thou Not that [She] Perish? Hip Hop Generation's Cry for Spiritual Truth-Telling and Axiological Patience” at 6 p.m. March 27 in the same venue. Click here for details.
Federal fair attracts 500 people, 35 agencies
Daryl Fitzgerald (Employer Relations/Recruitment) and Rita Bocchinfuso-Cohen (Career Services) helped coordinate the inaugural Federal Netowrking Fair on campus with the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Hispanic Serving Institutions National Program (Office of the Liaison). About 500 faculty, staff and students participated in the event, which attracted 35 federal agencies offering a spectrum of career opportunities.
Student career development events this month
Career Services encourages faculty and staff to inform students about career development events during March intended to teach skills that will enhance career opportunities. Available are mock interviews (March 7 and 11), available by appointment; the Grad Fair at the Kennel Bookstore (March 11-12) and a session with employers offering tips on successful interviewing (March 26). Campus video contest seeks entries
The second “I Am Fresno State” video contest is seeking entries from students, alumni and friends of the university. There is a $400 top prize for the video chosen the best at projecting pride for Fresno State. The deadline for entries is April 21 and there is no entry fee. Click here for details.
