Youth Arts exhibit The Youth Advocates Foundation, a collaboration with community partners, is sponsoring a Youth Arts exhibit called The Fall of Summer on Thursday, Sept. 8, at the 3 Brush Gallery, 2932 Fresno St. (across from Community Medical Center). The artwork was produced by the youth in custody as part of the court school’s curriculum. Among the co-sponsors is the College of Health and Human Services. Youth Advocates is a Fresno Rotary Foundation-sponsored youth advocacy organization formed to support new programs and services for incarcerated youth. The exhibit is to raise funds for the establishment of a youth arts program at the new Juvenile Justice Campus, which opens in 2006. This would include funding for increased art workshops provided by members of the community and university students, art supplies, art therapy and arts education. The event, which begins at 5:30 p.m., will include live entertainment, poetry reading, wine and hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are $35. For more information, contact Dr. Mitzi Lowe (Social Work Education), president of the Youth Advocates Board, at 8-5218 or mlowe@csufresno.edu. |
