Progress continues on new Fresno State student rec center Drawing of new center
Workers continue to make progress on the West Complex/Student Recreation Center at the Save Mart Center at Fresno State. The $17.6 million building project is a recreational and multipurpose facility designed primarily by students and intended largely for their use. In addition to the recreational areas, the building includes two academic components, the Leon and Pete Peters Educational Center and the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

At the Academic Assembly Aug. 17 for faculty and administrators, Dr. Jeronima Echeverria, provost and vice president of academic affairs, introduced the following individuals who will be holding permanent and interim academic positions this year (2005-06).

State budget accord protects CSU student access
The state budget agreement between Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Legislature fully funds the compact for higher education, provides $235.2 million in total dollars representing an increase of 6.5 percent for fiscal year 2005-06, and ensures enrollment for an additional 10,000 students at the 23-campus California State University system.

New grants 

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs announced 12 new grant awards received in July totaling $803,318. Grants were awarded to the colleges of Health and Human Services, Science and Math, Agricultural Sciences and Technology, and Social Sciences, as well as the ACT Center and Students for Community Service. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs acknowledges the commitment of the project directors and other faculty and staff who were instrumental in obtaining these grants. Arts and Humanities lecture series begins Sept. 22
