  Homecoming Tailgate and BBQ contests at Fresno StateHomecoming will shake things up
“Shakin’ It Up” is the theme of Homecoming Week 2005, which will be celebrated Oct. 10-15.  Major new activities planned this year include Bulldog Boulevard, competitions for best tailgate and best barbecue entrée and a ceremonial lighting of the Shehadey Tower at the Save Mart Center in red lights. The week will culminate with the Bulldogs football game against the Utah State Aggies.  More...

Tatarian journalism symposium Oct. 14
Gary Pruitt, chairman, president and chief executive officer of The McClatchy Company, will be the keynote speaker for the Roger Tatarian Journalism Symposium on “The Future of News” on Friday, Oct. 14, at Fresno State. Top Dog Awards return to Save Mart Center
The Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala will be held Thursday, Oct. 13, in the Save Mart Center. Fresno State’s most-prestigious event honors the top alumni from the eight colleges and schools, as well as the Division of Student Affairs and the recipient of the Arthur Safstrom Service Award. Proceeds benefit the FSAA Student Scholarship Endowment Fund. Reservations required.

$1.3-million grant for biomedical program
A four-year, $1.3-million grant from the National Institutes of Health to California State University, Fresno will boost opportunities for students interested in biomedical research.
