‘Fitness Over 50’ is lecture topic of Nov. 12 Osher Institute program
Miller is a graduate program faculty member in the Physical Therapy Department at Fresno State. She is the coordinator and adviser for the undergraduate majors leading to graduate study in physical therapy, rehabilitation counseling and public health. She has been a practicing physical therapist for 35 years in six states. Along with serving in numerous other positions, she was vice president for the Section on Geriatrics of the American Physical Therapy Association. She has done multiple presentations at the World Confederation of Physical Therapy meetings. Miller’s research interests include attributes of gait and balance, strength and mobility, and workers over the age of 65. She is the leader and supervisor for the “Eldercise” group which meets at Fresno State. Miller earned a bachelor of science degree from Wisconsin State University-Stevens Point, a postgraduate certificate in physical therapy from the U.S. Army Medical Field Service School, a master’s from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. The Osher Foundation was founded in 2001 by Bernard Osher, a successful San Francisco businessman and community leader, a patron for the arts and education, whose philanthropy has affected countless organizations over the past quarter century.
