Campus invited to participate in Strategic Planning Survey

Editor’s note: President Welty has issued this invitation to the campus community regarding the Strategic Planning Survey.

In the next round of strategic planning, we will be engaging the campus and the community in a set of discussions that will help lead the university to the next level of academic excellence and service.

The fundamental values underlying our strategic planning are:

  • Broad and meaningful participation by all constituencies
  • A continuing campus commitment to diversity
  • A climate of mutual respect and inclusion of different points of view
  • A focus on learning
  • A focus on research (creation and dissemination of knowledge)
  • Use of assessment as a tool for improvement in all areas

This year’s product and process will be substantially different from previous planning cycles. Rather than a large number of strategic planning goals, we will focus on 10 or fewer strategic planning directions. The Strategic Planning Committee has drafted a preliminary set of strategic directions based on various planning documents and reports. The strategic directions and relevant materials are available online at www.csufresno.edu/plan/.

You are invited to comment on the draft strategic planning directions at http://CTLSilhouette.wsu.edu/surveys/ZS36409 and to recommend additional strategic directions. Your responses will serve as the basis for the Strategic Planning Committee’s revision of the preliminary draft. The revised strategic directions will each be discussed at open meetings to which representatives of relevant constituencies will also receive special invitations. A final document to be brought to the Academic Senate to allow for review and endorsement by May 2006.
