Tech leader named director of Campus Information Systems

John Briar has been named director of Campus Information Systems.

Briar joined the university in 1997 as an Information Systems Project director in Administrative Services, and in 1998 he was appointed director of Business Information Technology Services. In 2002, the campus information technology units were restructured and he was appointed interim director of Campus Information Systems.

Some of most recent accomplishments include the systemwide collaboration and implementation of the benefits administration package, and the PeopleSoft Finance 8.4 upgrade. He is recognized as a leader both at Fresno State and throughout the CSU for his knowledge of computing technology.

Before coming to Fresno State, he worked for Chevron from 1981 to 1997 in a variety of progressively responsible technology-related positions.

Briar received his bachelor's degree in information systems and decision sciences from  Fresno State in 1981 and his master's degree in business administration from the University of California, Berkeley in 1989.
