Two new directors of development join team

Steven Spriggs

Roxanne Hinds of Ogden, Utah, and Steven Spriggs of Modesto have been named development directors. They are responsible for leading fundraising for their respective colleges under the umbrella of the Division of University Advancement.

Hinds assumes development duties for the College of Science and Mathematics. Prior to coming to Fresno State, she was a project consultant for the DaVinci Academy for Science and the Arts in Ogden, Utah, where she helped prepare for the opening of a new charter high school. Previously she was the executive foundation director for the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College, serving as the key fundraiser for the college.

Hinds has worked in higher education for more than 12 years. She taught communication for three years as an adjunct faculty member at Weber State University in Ogden. She brings fundraising experience from Weber State University, University of California, Berkeley, Washington State University, the San Jose Symphony and Stephen Dunn and Associates.

In 2003, Hinds was honored with the Spirit of the American Woman Award. Hinds has been in several organizations including Toastmasters, the Weber County League of Women Voters and Phi Delta Kappa, an organization for education professionals. Hinds graduated with highest honors from Weber State University in 2000 with a degree in communication.

Spriggs assumes development duties for the College of Health and Human Services.  Prior to coming to Fresno State, he served as executive director of Doctors Medical Center Foundation in Modesto and the Oak Valley Hospital Foundation in Oakdale. He also brings fundraising and development experience from California State University, Stanislaus, Sierra Vista Children’s Center in Modesto and the Association of Retarded Citizens of Stanislaus County.

Spriggs has held leadership positions for many organizations including the United Way of Modesto, Boy Scouts of America, the Modesto Rotary Club and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Spriggs has a law degree and holds a professional certification in nonprofit management and advanced grant management.
