Campus winemaster to address Osher program

Fresno State winemaster Ken Fugelsang will speak on “The Art of Winemaking” at three sessions of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in December. Limited space is available at the 1 p.m. session on Dec. 6. Walk-in admission is $20. Information and directions are available by calling 278.0008 in advance.

Fugelsang, a professor of enology, has authored or co-authored 12 books, more than 100 technical papers/ presentations and has been the recipient of over $2 million in funded research in the last 10 years. In his 35 years at Fresno State, he has been the recipient of the Claude Laval Award for Innovative Technology, the University Award for Research and Scholarly Activity and the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the College of Science and Mathematics. 

In addition to teaching and research responsibilities, he oversees the university’s commercial 50,000-gallon winery where, in the nine years of operation students have received 150 silver, gold and super awards at national and international wine competition.     

The Osher Foundation was founded in 2001 by Bernard Osher, a successful San Francisco businessman and community leader, a patron for the arts and education.
