Busy schedule for varied musical tastes

 

February is a busy month for Fresno State’s music venues with entire days devoted to workshops for brass, double reeds, saxophone and percussion in addition to recitals and performances.

Feb. 6 -- Duo 46: Recital with Matt Gould (violin) and Beth Schneider (guitar); 8 p.m. Concert Hall; $10 general, $7 faculty/staff, $5 students/seniors.

 

Feb. 8 -- Fresno State Saxophone Clinic: Master class by Dr. Douglas Masek, professor of saxophone at UCLA, and performances by Fresno State saxophone students; 6 p.m. Wahlberg Recital Hall; free (seating limited).

 

Feb. 11 -- Fresno State Brass Festival: Workshops, classes for beginners to professionals; 12:30-5 p.m. Concert Hall; Registration required; call 278-2137.

 

Feb. 18 -- Orpheus:  8 p.m. Wahlberg Recital Hall; free (seating limited).

 

Feb. 20 -- Double Reed Day Gala Recital: Jonathan Dlouhy (principal oboe with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra) and Stephen Paulson (principal bassoon with the San Francisco Symphony); 6 p.m. Concert Hall; $10 general, $5 faculty/staff/seniors/students.

 

Feb. 24 -- Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concert Series: Mihaela Ursuleasa, piano, works by Beethoven, Shostakovich and Rachmaninoff; 8 p.m. Concert Hall; $12.50 general, $7 seniors, $5 students.

 

Feb. 25 -- Central California Day of Percussion Recital: Christopher Deane (marimba) and Randy Gloss (hand percussionist) joined by Fresno State Percussion and Wind ensembles under baton of Dr. Lawrence Sutherland; 6:30 p.m. Concert Hall; $10 general, $8 faculty/staff/seniors, $5 students.

 

Feb. 28 -- Wind Ensemble: Recital under direction of Dr. Lawrence Sutherland; 7:30 p.m. Concert Hall; $6 general, $5 faculty/staff/seniors/students.
