Room will provide study
spaces during Madden Library construction Facilities Planning is furnishing the room with some of the existing library carrels and chairs and with new tables and chairs that are being considered for use in the new library. Wireless connectivity is being upgraded and the blinds and drapes are being repaired. University Center Room 202 (a “smart” conference room) and the hallways and stairs nearby have been fitted with carpet tiles and floor tiles that are being considered for use in the new library. The purpose is to test their durability and also how easy they’ll be to maintain and clean. The new flooring materials are “green” products, which provide for a healthier indoor environment and will be incorporated where possible throughout the new library. During construction, UC200 also will be the home for testing and demonstrating new furniture, lighting, seating and work styles. Some new and interesting seating arrangements as well as a powered "hub" and post and beam systems will be added later this spring. UC200 tentatively is scheduled to be open for study use Feb. 6. The hours are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Friday, except 4-6 p.m. on the first Monday of the month when the Academic Senate meets in the room. |
