University co-sponsors conference on regional issues
California State University, Fresno is one of the sponsoring partners of the ninth Great Valley Conference on May 10 and 11 in Sacramento, the state’s largest annual meeting focused solely on issues affecting the Central Valley.

This year’s conference theme, “Our Place in the world: At the Tipping Point, “invites examination of how small factors can play a big part in the area’s major economic and demographic changes.

This year’s keynote speaker is Henry Cisneros (pictured above), a former secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and four-term mayor of San Antonio who is creating ownership opportunities for working families by investing funds provided by two major institutional investors.

Another key speaker is Jaime Lerner, an architect and urban planner. He is a former mayor of Curitiba, Brazil, and former governor of Paraná, a state in southern Brazil.
