Hammar takes reins of International Student Services and Programs

Fresno State’s new director of International Student Services and Programs is Dr. Lucia B. Hammar, who has more than two decades of experience in international programs and for the past five years has been assistant director, then International Programs director at the university. Hammar heads a multicultural staff that works with the 600 students from 50 countries outside the United States who are enrolled at Fresno State this semester.

 

Person wins honor from Academy of Forensic Sciences
The American Academy of Forensic Sciences recognized Dr. Eric Person, an assistant professor of chemistry and director of the Forensic Science program at Fresno State, for a presentation on a new method of illegal methamphetamine production. Relationship with money is March InForum topic
Lynne Twist, who wrote “The Soul of Money: Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Life,” will speak at the next InForum Series lecture at 6 p.m. March 14 at Fresno's Veterans Memorial Auditorium. Twist, who has raised millions of dollars for various causes and is an activist whose interests range from global sustainability to economic integrity, will discuss the value of collaboration. Networking will be at 5:30 p.m., followed by Twist’s presentation. Admission is $15 general, $10 students. There is a $10 charge to attend a reception after the presentation. University co-sponsors conference on regional issues
California State University, Fresno is one of the sponsoring partners of the ninth Great Valley Conference on May 10 and 11 in Sacramento, the state’s largest annual meeting focused solely on issues affecting the Central Valley. More...

Business plan could prove lucrative
Faculty, staff and students are eligible to compete for the $10,000 top prize in the Business Plan Contest, sponsored by the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Coleman Foundation on campus and the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance.
Entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. March 31, with preliminary judging April 28 and the third annual Invention 2 Venture workshop on April 29. At least one principal of the proposed business must be a Fresno State student in good standing. More...

New-look University Restaurant has new menu, too
