Gorky Festival features several events
The College of Arts and Humanities and the University Lecture Series are collaborating on events to mark the life and legacy of Arshile Gorky, the abstract expressionist painter, most of whose work was done in New York. Theatre for Young Audiences plays Arena Theatre this month
Performances of this year’s Theatre for Young Audiences Tour production, “Yer’s Pa Nadu: A Hmong Tiger Tale,” written by five Fresno State students in collaboration with Professor Kim Morin, are scheduled April 20-22 in the Arena Theatre. Each year the company performs for thousands of children at more than 30 schools throughout the central San Joaquin Valley. More...

Music professor Nguyen plans violin recital on campus
Music professor Thi Nguyen will perform in a faculty violin recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the Concert Hall in the New Music Building (2380 E. Keats Ave.), joined by pianist Natasha Kislenko in a program of  works by J.S. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms and Saint-Saëns. Admission is $7 general, $5 faculty/staff/students/seniors. Stellar guitar program in CSU Summer Arts spotlight on campus
Guitar will be in the spotlight again at this year’s CSU Summer Arts program at Fresno State thanks to music professor Corey Whitehead, who has lined up extraordinary talent for “Flamenco Forms and Techniques in the Classical Guitar Repertoire.” Featured artist-instructors are Juan Serrano and Eliot Fisk, two world-acclaimed concert guitarists.  CSU Summer Arts, which serves the entire 23-campus CSU system, is scheduled July 2-28.
