Dance show at Fresno State celebrates World Dance Day 2006
Each April 29 since 1982, World Dance Day has been celebrated all over the world by international communities of dancers and dance enthusiasts and Fresno State’s participation includes four performances of “Shut Up and Dance.”

The University Dance Theatre will present the programs at 8 p.m. April 27 and 28 and at 2 and 8 p.m. April 29th in Lab School 101.

The University Dance Theatre is a student-run performance class that puts on a dance performance at the end of every semester. The 41 students in the class do it all themselves from choreographing and dancing to running the lights and sound.

Kenneth Balint, the class adviser and assistant professor in the department of Theatre Arts and Dance, is confident the show will draw a large crowd.

“We’ve sold out every show for the past seven semesters,” Balint said. “The show has so much diversity that there’s a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy. It will indeed complement the idea of a World Dance Day.”

Free parking will be in lots C and D.

Tickets are $5 and should be purchased in advance at the Box Office 278.2216 or online at www.csufresno.edu/Theatre/.
