All-WAC receiver Paul Williams will lead the Bulldogs into the 47th Annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Dec. 31 in Memphis.

We've asked our visitors to tell us their favorite thing about Fresno State. For some it's a favorite professor. Others love the campus farm. Still others like catching the Rolling Stones at the Save Mart Center on campus.  Here are some of the things people are saying...

Editor's note: If you've answered the survey but don't see your name below...don't worry.  The following comments are just a sampling of the responses we've received.  Thanks!

FRANK, Visalia -- "Fresno State is close to home. Classrooms are generally on the small side, fairly easy to get 1-on-1 with the professors. Good business program."

LATISHA, Fresno -- "Unlike other colleges and or universities, Fresno State allows you to actually be an adult. They don't treat you like a child and hold your hand. Instead they kind of push you out there and make you learn on your own, which really equips you for the "real world." No one is going to hold your hand in the "real world!" And of course they're #1 in sports!"

LINDSAY, Fresno -- "Definitely the Save Mart Center. The Nursing Program rocks as well!"

LUIS ALBERT, Reedley -- "My favorite thing on campus is the availability of several computers for students to use all around campus and the cool international students."

CHARLES, Mariposa -- "Affordable higher education is an increasingly scarce commodity. That, plus snow and surf within two hours, Hello."

LAURA, Fresno -- "Out of several CSU schools, Fresno State is a wonderful campus that I enjoy attending. The teachers in my CSD department are awesome and make learning worth its while."

WILLIAM, Fresno -- "I enjoy being on the campus. I like being around the diverse cultures that Fresno State brings together in pursuit of higher education."

GRAVANO, Fresno -- "It is more of an open free environment. You can pretty much study anywhere. There are lots of people to get to know and make new friends. Another thing that I like about Fresno State is that no matter how much you "screw up" there seems to be a way to always succeed one way or another."

MARCELA, Madera -- "I love the entire atmosphere of Fresno State. I love the environment the trees and the students on their bikes. I like that the weather. I like that it is not freezing and its mostly warm. I like that Fresno State is so new that their is lots of room for growth and creativity. Since there are not too many programs and businesses on and around the campus I know that it is going to grow more."

ARACELI, Fresno -- "I love the environment at Fresno State. All the staff and students work well with each other. I have noticed that the professors care a lot for their students and don't mind going the extra mile to help their students out."

I love the art department, but I wish the funding weren't so overwhelmingly ignored there. The arts are an incredible opportunity for national recognition for the school, but are grossly ignored. I understand sports are important, and are easily recognizable, but the arts have so much untapped potential."

Being a volunteer member of the board allows me to see new and old alumni and help new students become new alumni. JERRY, Fresno and Baghdad -- "I'm a criminology major and the best crim instructors area at Fresno State. All these things listed above makes me proud to be a Fresno State student. GO BULLDOGS!!!!!!!!"  AMBER-Visalia, CA 12/19

"The great sense of community. Also, the students and staff are very friendly."  MICHAEL-Fresno 12/19

"I'm a proud Fresno State Alum, and also product of the central valley. For someone coming to Fresno State from outside of the Valley, this might not apply, but generally speaking, I think Fresno State instills the notion that you can come from relatively humble beginnings, and improve yourself through hard work and a focused approach. I think you see this throughout the university from the sports programs, all the way to the business program, and it's a reflection of mindset of the valley, where most people carry a healthy chip on their shoulder. Compare and contrast to say, a Notre Dame, which has privileges such as the current BCS arrangement, and you start to understand why it's easy to be a proud supporter of the university and it's programs, regardless of their level of success. Everything achieved here, has been genuinely earned..." JERRY-Fair Oaks, CA 12/19

"I've had some REALLY good professors...and I like where Fresno State is located."  RACHAEL, Sanger, CA 12/19

"I love that the classes are average size and most professors are understanding in meeting the students needs."  SUSY, Fresno 12/19

"From a student's standpoint my favorite thing about Fresno State is the campus. I love how it is set up. When you are on campus, you feel like you are on a college campus. I like how it is enclosed. It sounds funny, but when I have been on other campuses I hate how they're set up. I don't like how you have to cross a street to go to the next building. Fresno State has a lovely campus. The other thing is I've gotten a great education at Fresno State. Fresno has amazing teachers. From the standpoint of a lifelong Fresno resident, my favorite thing about Fresno State is how it has the power to bring the community together. Fresno State sports are an EVENT in this town. My whole life I have loved how the town comes together and practically closes down on football nights. It's the best!"  SARAH, Fresno 12/18

"My favorite thing about Fresno State is having the opportunity to sit in the student section at a bulldog home football game. People her in Fresno are very passionate about their football team and it shows at the games which makes for a fun environment."  CARLOS-Fresno 12/19

"I enjoy the campus and the people. The professors are interested in their students progress." DALE-Fresno 12/18

"I like the interaction with all the people in the social work department." ISELA-Fresno 12/18

"My favorite thing about Fresno State is the atmosphere on campus. The school is very big, yet the culture of the valley is seen throughout the campus. Open mindedness is displayed throughout as well. There is never a time where you do not see people at least twice a week. The professors are friendly, and there are plenty events to do on campus. Fresno State has made me a better person, through personality and cultural adjustment."  CHARLES, Fresno 12/18

"The campus, its so beautiful!...compared to other Cal States, we have one of the best campuses!" ANNE, Fontana, CA 12/18

"It is near home and has a good academic reputation." AMANDA, Del Rey, CA 12/18

"Fresno State has a great atmosphere that is really welcoming to all new and old students. Students can get to know their professors on a one-to-one basis, while working with them through research, projects, and in the classroom -- an environment that really promotes good teaching and students." JESSICA, Armona, CA 12/18

"My favorite thing about Fresno State is the soon to be Rec Center. In my Mechanical Systems and Codes Class (ID 110), we toured the facility in the earlier stages and we got to see the studs of the walls that support the structure. It was very interesting to see how a major project like the rec center develops in stages..."  VERONICA, Fresno 12/18

"My favorite thing about Fresno State is the community feeling. When you see your professors, they actually know who you are. You make lasting friendships with your classmates. This campus gives you a sense of self, that can usually only be found at smaller private colleges."  KATHRINE, Fresno 12/17

"The professors at Fresno State are the best! I'm a junior and have only had two I didn't like. I also like the campus; everything's within walking distance. And even though it's a small school, the quality of the education hasn't been sacrificed. The program is really thorough--my parents, who both went to Pepperdine, tell me their education wasn't nearly as intensive as mine has been. I'm also a member of the equestrian team, which is one of the best in the nation, and I absolutely LOVE it! Fun times with great people. I've made all my best friends through the team. Fresno City itself makes it good to be a student at Fresno State. People are really supportive of the school and that makes me proud to be a Bulldog."  HEATHER, Squaw Valley, CA 12/17

"The thing I like most about Fresno State is the diversity among the professors. I am a reentry student and the first college that I attended was Cal State Northridge in the early 1980s and the only time students were in contact with professors of color were in the Pan African Studies Dept. or the Chicano Studies Dept, but now in 2005 students can take almost any class and have a professor of color. If students are smart, which I am quite sure that they are, they will take this grand opportunity and learn from the diversified staff presented to them at Fresno State."  VANESSA, Lemoore, CA 12/17

"My favorite thing about Fresno State is that it's my hometown University and I am a proud student. The professors and all the different departments' staff help students in continuing their education!"   PATRICIA, Fresno 12/17

"The teachers. they make it worthwhile to go to class." PEDRO, Visalia, CA 12/17

"Fresno State has a great atmosphere that is really welcoming to all new and old students. Students can get to know their professors on a one-to-one basis, while working with them through research, projects, and in the classroom - an environment that really promotes good teaching and students." JESSICA, Armona, CA 12/17

"The professors sincerely care for their students and work with the students. Professors, in my experience, understand that not every student has the option of attending school and that college is not their only focus. The professors understand students work full time, have families and other responsibilities." DEBORAH, Visalia 12/17

"Fresno State football games" RONALD, Fresno 12/17

My favorite things: "Athletics and the awesome academic buildings that are going up around the campus. Fresno State is making a name for itself on the national stage and I live in Georgia."  AARON, Dallas, GA 2/15

"The friends I made while attending Fresno State. :) Janine Quisenberry was one of my favorite supervisors for my final student teaching." CYNTHIA, Sacramento, CA 12/14

"FRESNO STATE SOFTBALL"  STEPHEN, Fresno 12/14

"My favorite thing about Fresno State is the squirrels that run around when the weather is warm enough. I bring almonds to school in my backpack in case I see one. Then I make a squirrel sound with my mouth and they look over and if I keep making the sound and squat down and put my hand out, they come over and sometimes they'll take the nut straight out of my hand. "I received both my BS and MS degrees in Animal Sciences at California State University, Fresno and just recently earned my PhD in Swine Nutrition here at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign! Although our basketball team and several of our departments bring us national recognition, I miss the ability to know most of the people in your department and also the smaller campus size that are present at Fresno State. Of course, I loved working at the swine unit and meat science lab and miss my graduate advisor who outshines many of the professors here at U of Illinois!" JENNIFER, Champaign, IL 12/13

"I love the students on the campus. The student population of Fresno State is so diverse that it is a joy to walk around and see so much cultural and ideological diversity on this campus. That is what I like most about Fresno State."  ROBERT, Fresno 12/13

"I love how Fresno State was founded with the intentions of advancing the agriculture industry in the Valley. But I don’t like how it’s slowly disappearing because of urban sprawl."  12/11

"Fresno State is the perfect balance between a big college atmosphere and a small liberal arts college education because of class size and having classes with actual professors. I love that the whole community is behind the Bulldogs, and the values we stand for. Go Dogs!" 12/11

"Living in San Diego, I sure appreciate to hear about the success of Fresno State athletics. However, I know there's so much more that I adore & recall. I think about the amazing skills I learned at the School of Business. Those wonderful artsy classes that I took, giving me a welcome break from my business classes. I recall Dr. Harry Harris--just amazing... memorable after all these years. Air Guitar---performing in front of 4000 students--what a high. No one can doubt my education though there may be raised eyebrows about Fresno State. I am filled with pride. I was one of the 20,000 at the recent football game vs. USC. Best of all...I'm grounded, ...successful... content... and had the best, well-rounded and memorable college experience." 12/11
