A free two-day symposium commemorating the 84th anniversary of the Holodomor – the Ukrainian famine-genocide – will begin at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 5, at Fresno State in the Henry Madden Library, Room 2206, and conclude Friday, Oct. 6, with a moment of silence. With the theme “Hunger for Truth: Illuminating the Hidden History of the Holodomor,” renowned speakers from the United States, Canada and Ukraine will share their stories and research findings, said Dr. Victoria A. Malko, the Fresno State history professor coordinating the event. The program will also include lectures, discussions, documentary and motion picture screenings, poetry reading and musical performances about the Holodomor. The event is cosponsored by the Department of History of the College of Social Sciences and the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America’s Branch 111 in Los Angeles.
