Fresno State’s College of Health and Human Services and the Department of Social Work Education will host a free, public screening of “Vision of Warriors” from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Satellite Student Union. Following the screening will be a panel discussion on PTSD and other mental health challenges faced by veterans. The documentary highlights four veterans participating in a photography art therapy program at the Veteran Photo Recovery Project at the VA Menlo Park. The program helps veterans heal by capturing images through photography that acts as a form of reflection and transformation. The panelists include: Susan Quaglietti, founder of the Veteran Photo Recovery Act; Ming Lai, director of “Visions of Warriors”; Ryan Gardner, clinical social worker at Palo Alto VA Health Care System; and Will Wong, social work professor at CSU Los Angeles. Moderating the panel will be Herman Barretto, director of the Fresno Vet Center and adjunct faculty in the Department of Social Work Education.
