How can local data be used to achieve fair housing in Fresno County? That is the focal point of the Fair Housing Data Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at the Smittcamp Alumni House (2625 E. Matoian Way). The free, public event will assess the state of existing data and identify data collection and analysis that reveal obstacles to fair housing. Two breakout sessions will overview legal questions about fair housing, building a research data infrastructure and collect research priorities from the community. Dr. Chris Benner, professor of environmental studies and sociology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, will be the keynote speaker. The Central Valley Health Policy Institute is hosting the event along with Central California Legal Services and California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc.
