The Bulldoggers club rodeo team will host the Fresno State College Rodeo Saturday and Sunday, March 10 and 11, at the Clovis Rodeo Grounds (748 Rodeo Dr.). The competition, which is the team’s only home event of the season, starts with a slack session at 8 a.m. Saturday followed by a ticketed first round at 7 p.m. The Saturday evening session will feature all rough stock competitors and 10 randomly selected competitors in each timed performance. The 10 qualifiers from Saturday’s sessions will compete at 10 a.m. Sunday in the final short round session. Competition features 15 other collegiate teams: Butte College, Cal Poly, Cal Poly Pomona, Chico State, Clovis Community College, Cal State Stanislaus, Cuesta College, Feather River College, Lassen College, UC Davis, Nevada, UNLV, West Hills College and Western Nevada College. Among Fresno State’s top entrants, junior Brittany Dias ranks second in the West Coast Region in breakaway roping and Bodi Dodds ranks third in the team roping header category. Both are former national collegiate rodeo qualifiers along with seniors Colton Campbell and Jamie Giefer and junior Rial Engelhart. The cost to attend Saturday’s evening and Sunday’s day sessions is $5, and free for Fresno State students with ID.
