Dr. Dirk Baron, emeritus professor at California State University, Bakersfield, will present a lecture as part of the Fresno State Earth and Environmental Sciences Seminar Series, from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Kremen Education building (Room 390).

Baron’s main expertise is the behavior of toxic trace elements, such as chromium and arsenic, in natural and contaminated subsurface environments. For this work, Baron received the 2018 Distinguished Educator Award of the Pacific Section of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
