The American Indian Studies Program and Women’s Studies Program kick off Women’s History Month with a summit in the Table Mountain Rancheria Reading Room of the Henry Madden Library from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 1, to celebrate and bring awareness to the political and cultural work of Native American women in the U.S. and highlight the contributions of Native American women in society.
“The event reflects Fresno State’s commitment to diversity, celebration of women’s contributions to society, and demonstration of the library and campus’ work as a teaching and learning institution,” said Dr. Leece Lee-Oliver, Women’s Studies assistant professor.
President Joseph I. Castro will welcome attendees followed by the College of Social Sciences’ Dean Dr. Michelle DenBeste. The summit, sponsored by the College of Social Sciences, the Cross Cultural and Gender Center and the President’s Commission on Human Relations and Equity, is free and open to the public.
