Dr. George B. Kauffman, professor emeritus of chemistry at California State University, Fresno, presented the opening lecture at the 17th International Conference on Coordination Chemistry, attended by chemists from all over the world. The conference was held from June 7-14 at the Home of Scientists of the Slovak Academy of Sciences at Smolenice Castle, located about 35 miles from the Slovak capital city of Bratislava.

His lecture on “Coordination Chemistry at the Turn of the Century” surveyed the highlights of the field from its beginnings in the late 19th century to the present. The lecture will be published in the proceedings of the conference by the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, Slovakia.
