Below is a list of activities planned in the next two weeks as the campus prepares for its fall semester.

Tuesday, Aug. 22

Fall Academic Assembly — faculty return for university President John D. Welty’s state-of-the-campus address at 9 a.m. in the Satellite Student Union followed by new faculty orientation the rest of the week.

Wednesday, Aug. 23

University High School — first class arrives for orientation

Thursday, Aug. 24

University Courtyard residence halls move-in begins — Pres. Welty will greet the residency students during a barbecue at 4:30 p.m. Continues through Aug. 27. Several activities planned.

Monday, Aug. 28

Fall Semester 2000 instruction begins for some 16,000-plus Fresno State students. (Fall projections to be released next week).

Instruction begins for 100 University High School students who will make history when they begin classes. More details to come.

Aug. 28 – Sept. 1

Welcome Week — various activities planned. More details to come.

Tuesday, Sept. 5

New Student Convocation — academic procession led by Class of 2000 Grand Marshal John Shaw (the university’s senior faculty member) and welcome comments by Pres. Welty at 2 p.m.
