Fresno mayoral candidates Alan Autry and Dan Whitehurst will face each other in a live debate and town meeting sponsored by California State University, Fresno’s campus radio station KFSR on Monday, Oct. 2, at 1 p.m.

The live forum, which is free and open to the public, will be in the Concert Hall in Fresno State’s Music Building. Tickets are not required but seating is first come, first served.

KFSR will record the one-and-a-half-hour event for later broadcast as a public service to the Fresno community: on Monday at 5 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at noon and on Friday, Oct. 6, at 8 a.m.

The debate will feature a panel of two local journalists and a political expert: Stefani Booroojian of KSEE TV Ch. 24 (NBC); Warren Armstrong of KFSN-TV Ch. 30 (ABC); and Dr. David Provost, professor in Fresno State’s Political Science Department and expert on California politics. KFSR’s faculty advisor, Jim Wilson, a mass communication journalism professor and former general manager of KMJ Radio, will moderate the panel.

The audience will also be able to pose questions to the candidates in a town hall meeting setting. More broadcasts of the debate will air the week before the election with times to be announced, said Joe Moore, KFSR station manager.

Free parking will be available in Lot V off Maple and Shaw Avenues at the east end of campus. For more information, call KFSR at (559) 278-2598.
