Internationally known artist Judy Chicago, who founded the nation’s first feminist art program as a member of the Fresno State faculty in 1970, will be available for media interviews from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday at the Phebe Conley Gallery on campus.

Chicago is keynote speaker at 8 p.m. tonight (Thursday) at the California State University, Fresno Feminist Art Symposium, titled, “Celebrating 30 Years of Feminist Art in Fresno and Beyond.” An exhibition of her prints and drawings is in the Conley Gallery.

The symposium, which runs through Saturday, features a variety of lectures, panels, workshops, gallery exhibitions and other events on the campus and at other venues in Fresno.

Also available for interview by arrangement are History Professor Jill Fields, who can discuss the history and significance of feminist art, and other local feminist artists involved in the symposium.
