About 32 school districts from throughout the state will do some back-to-school shopping for teacher candidates at the Summer 2001 Teacher Recruitment Fair at California State University, Fresno on Wednesday, July 18.

The fair, sponsored by the Career Services Office, will be held in the Satellite Student Union, from 8 a.m. to noon, could draw up to 300 credentialed students looking for jobs said Diana Dille, coordinator of Fresno State’s Career Services Education Division.

Open only to students credentialed by Fresno State, the fair’s job interviews often result in students leaving campus with signed contracts, Dille said.

“Teacher fairs are different from other career fairs because many districts are ready to hire qualified candidates on the spot,” said Dille, who has coordinated the Fresno State fair the past six years. “They can offer a job and sign a contract so some students leave with employment secured.”

This year, with the Summer Semester, more students were able to complete their final teaching and be prepared for employment for the fall. Dille said about 150 to 200 students are expected to complete their credential requirements this summer.
