3 University High seniors win national awards

Three members of the first graduating class at University High School have been named National Merit Scholarship Finalists.

Melissa Cabral, John Dawson and Stephan Ho have been notified of the prestigious

honor. The award selection is based on the students’ PSAT score in October, completion of an application, an essay and a report from the school.

Each year some 55,000 high school students are honored in National Merit

Scholarship Corporation programs and more than 10,500 of the most outstanding

participants receive scholarships worth a total of $50 million for college undergraduate study.

University High„ a charter high school offering an accelerated, college preparatory program for students with experience in musical performance, is sponsored by the College of Arts and Humanities at Fresno State and located on the university campus.
