The Chicano Alumni Association of California State University, Fresno will unveil its new official web site during a special reception with the Central California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce today, Feb. 20, at 5:30 p.m. at the Fresno Chamber of Commerce Building (2331 Fresno St.) in downtown Fresno.

The URL for the new web site is http://www.chicanoalumni.com/. WebCity Press of Fresno constructed the new Chicano Alumni web site.

“We’re very pleased with the work WebCity did,” said Manuel Olgin, president of the Chicano Alumni. “This web site will help our alumni and friends stay in touch with us and learn about the many events and projects we have planned as well as view our history and other links to the university. We encourage visitors to contribute to the content also.”

The Chicano Alumni and Hispanic Chamber organizations will also use the occasion to announce plans “to work together in serving the university alumni and Fresno area Hispanic businesses in a coordinated manner that benefits both memberships,” Olgin said.

While he said the plans are being fine-tuned, they are intended to accent the partnerships the Chicano alumni has with the Hispanic Chamber.

“We are building bridges between our membership and area businesses so we can help each other put the university’s many resources to work for the business community and the public in general” Olgin said. “In turn, the university will benefit — through scholarships, internships, and other support — form the business community.

The reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available.

The Chicano Alumni Association also announced that its next monthly Second Saturday event will be on March 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Beto’s Mexican Restaurant (4770 E. Clinton Ave.) in Fresno. (Full details to come).
