The California State University, Fresno Department of Music will present a recital by Russian pianist Natasha Kislenko on Sunday, Feb. 22 at the Concert Hall, located in the New Music Building on campus.
She will perform works by Schumann, Bartok, Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich. Admission is $4 for the general public, and $3 for faculty/ staff/ seniors/ students. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Music Scholarship Fund.
Kislenko has given recitals and concert performances all over Russia, Europe and the United States. Born and raised in Moscow, she began her piano lessons at the age of six. While a young student at the Central Special Music School for Gifted Children, Natasha appeared in solo recitals and as a soloist with the USSR Ministry of Culture Orchestra
(Moscow) at the prestigious Union House Pillar Hall. Before her completion of the graduate degree from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 1994, she won several top prizes in international piano competitions in Germany, Portugal and Slovak Republic.
In 1995, Kislenko came to the America where she received her Master’s and Artist Diploma degrees from the Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She spent the summer of 1996 in Accademia musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy, receiving the Diploma di Honore in piano performance. In the same year, Natasha won the First Prize in the Missouri Southern International Piano Competition, and was granted a Carnegie Hall recital debut, which she performed in 1996.
Presently, Natasha is in the final stages of her Doctorate degree in piano performance at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where she studies with the distinguished American pianist Gilbert Kalish. Her strong interest in chamber music and accompanying led to participation in Sarasota Music Festival (2000) and Music Academy of the West (2001), where she was a part of collaborative piano program with Anne Epperson. The summer of 2003 she spent at the Meadowmount Music Festival in NY, where she was a faculty member. Kislenko joined the Music Department of Fresno State in fall 2002.
