FRESNO, CALIF. — Amerasia Week hosted by the Amerasia Club of Fresno State returns for its 34th year. Each night, starting at 7 p.m. at the Satellite Student Union, a different Asian culture will be showcased, celebrating the diversity represented in the Central Valley region.

Admission is free and open to the public. Last year, each night the event filled to capacity, arriving early is encouraged.

Many people think of China and Japan when they hear the word “Asia.” Asian cultures are much more than martial-arts, rice and exotic geisha girls. America is strengthened by the cultural diversity of people whom have come to call this nation home. Amerasia Week offers a glimpse of Asian cultures that many people not even know are present within their community. The Amerasia Club strives to educate people and to see beyond stereotypes. This year, celebrates the rich backgrounds of Asian/Pacific heritage with various presentations, from groups such as Hmong, Japanese, Lao, and Cambodian cultures.
