Two Clovis West High School juniors who had winning projects at the 51th annual Central California Regional Science, Mathematics and Engineering Fair have been offered scholarships for $2,000 to attend California State University, Fresno when they finish high school.

The scholarship offers were made by Fresno State President John D. Welty. The university has made such offers to Science Fair winners for the past two decades. The students were selected for their excellence in hypothesis testing, independence, innovation and possessing a greater understanding of the significance of their projects relative to known information.

The students, the categories and their projects are:

• Rohini Shantharam, microbiology, “Cross Regulation of 2-4 Dichlorophenoxy Acetic Acid.”

• Ralph Boyajian Jr., engineering, “Methane Pollution from Dairy Lagoons: A Possible Alternative Energy Source.”
