California State University, Fresno will join other state agencies in observing

Gov. Schwarzenegger’s proclamation of Friday, June 11, as a day of remembrance for President Ronald Reagan.

Following California State University Chancellor Charles Reed’s authorization for presidents to cancel campus activities as appropriate and provide time off to employees, most activities at Fresno State will be cancelled and most employees will be off on Friday.

The University Carillon will play “America the Beautiful” at 10:15 a.m. followed by a moment of silence. Individuals interested in gathering at the Thomas Administration Building flagpoles, where the university’s flags are flying at half-staff in tribute to President Reagan, are welcome to do so at that time.

There are a number of academic instructional activities, including the international Physics Conference and Continuing Education courses, that will compel some offices to remain open. Services will be provided for conference participants, faculty and students who plan to meet on Friday.

Essential services on the campus, including public safety, environmental health, human resources and safety and plant operations, will remain open.
