Backgrnd: The task force was formed by Fresno Mayor Alan Autry and Fresno State President John D. Welty to allow area alcohol and drug prevention specialists, law enforcement officials, community members/leaders, and students to address issues facing the region, collaborate on funding opportunities, share information on programs and services, and combine forces for special events and activities. Although the Task Force may address issues concerning alcohol and substance in general, the main emphasis will focus on abuse among young adults and minors.

The agenda for the first meeting includes alcohol and substance abuse statistics related to health and crime; a roundtable discussion to identify major target areas for task force efforts and awareness presentations by Alcohol Beverage Control, Police Activities League and Sigma Nu, a Fresno State fraternity.
