On Thursday, March 31, California State University, Fresno will be closed for the Cesar Chavez Day holiday.

The state holiday was enacted by the California State Legislature in 2000. All offices will be closed except for University Police. In the event of an emergency, call 278-2132.

Today (Wednesday, March 30), the university community is observing the farm worker leader’s birthday with a garlanding ceremony from noon to 1 p.m. at the Cesar E. Chavez Monument in the Peace Garden on campus. On Friday (April 1), a candlelight vigil will be held at 7 pm at the monument.
