The Fresno State Alumni Association of California State University, Fresno is seeking nominations for the 2007 Top Dog Alumni Awards to be presented this fall to alumni and friends of the university.
Nominations, due by Feb. 28, are welcomed from alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends of the university for the Distinguished Alumni Award, 11 Outstanding Alumni Awards and the Arthur Safstrom Service Award.
The Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest honor given to an alumnus/alumna of the university, is based on scholarship, leadership and service to the university, the Central Valley and the state.
Past recipients include Herb Depp, vice president of Boeing Programs for General Electric’s Aircraft Engines; Kenny Guinn, Governor, State of Nevada; Charles Poochigian, California State Senator; and Joy Covey, former Chief Strategy Officer, Amazon.com.
The Outstanding Alumni Awards recognizes Fresno State alumni from each of the university’s eight schools and colleges of academic discipline, plus the Division of Student Affairs, the Henry Madden Library and the Athletics Department. These 11 alumni are honored for outstanding accomplishments in their fields and for the example of exceptional achievement they set for current students.
Past recipients include Paul O’Neill, former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury; Roy Christopher, Emmy Award winning set-designer; Col. Rick Husband, commander, Space Shuttle Columbia; and Laura Berg, U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist.
The Arthur Safstrom Service Award is presented to an alumnus/alumna or friend of California State University, Fresno who has given outstanding service to the Alumni Association or the university.
Past recipients include Muriel and Earl Smittcamp, Robert Duncan, Pat and Vinci Ricchiuti and Sister Ruth Marie Nickerson.
