The Fresno County Archaeological Society/San Joaquin Valley Chapter, Archaeological Institute of America will meet Monday, March 6, at 7 p.m. in the Leon S. and Pete P. Peters Educational Center at California State University, Fresno. “Art and War at the Achaemenid Court” will be discussed by Dr. Michael Roaf, a professor of Near Eastern Archaeology at Munich University in Germany.

The Peters Center is located in the new Student Recreation Center at Fresno State, at the northeast corner of Shaw and Woodrow avenues, just west of the Save Mart Center. Parking will be relaxed in Lot V for the program.

Roars talk will cover more than two decades of work at archaeological sites of ancient Persia and Mesopotamia (modern Iran and Iraq), particularly his research on Assyrian and Persian sculptures.

The Fresno State Department of Geography, the College of Social Sciences, and the San Joaquin Valley Chapter of the Archaeological Institute of America are co-sponsors of the program.
