California State University, Fresno music professor and trumpet artist Michael Caldwell will perform in a faculty jazz recital at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 2, in the Concert Hall of the Music Building (2380 E. Keats Ave.).

The concert will feature a strong lineup of prominent artists including Tamir Hendelman, pianist with the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra and the Jeff Hamilton trio; Colin Wenhardt. a leading jazz saxophonist and woodwind artist in the Los Angeles area; Sherry Luchette, bassist and vocalist in several Los Angeles-based jazz groups and a former member Maiden Voyage; and Brian Hamada, one of the busiest jazz drummers in the Central Valley.

The concert will highlight two of Caldwell’s original compositions, “The Little Hunter” (1987) and “Dreamcatcher” (2006). In addition, the group will perform Donald Brown’s “Episode from a Village Dance,” Ralph Moore’s “Hopscotch,” Hank Mobley’s “This I Dig of You” and Lars Jansson’s “Svennsen,” along with several other jazz classics.

Admission is $7 general; $5 faculty/staff/seniors/students. Tickets may be purchased in the Music Department Box Office from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday or at 6:30 p.m. on April 4. Tickets also are available for purchase online.
