Fogo Na Roupa (Clothes on Fire) boasts some of the most exciting performances of Brazilian dance and music culture. With strong African, Latin, and Caribbean influences, Fogo is an exciting company of artists from varied cultural backgrounds and extensive professional experience.
Founder and Director Carlos Aceituno’s artistic background encompasses various forms of music and dance study in Latin, Afro-Brazilian, Jazz, modern, and African. Under his direction, Fogo Na Roupa has earned the grand prize of “Best Brazilian Contingent” in the San Francisco Carnaval Parade for multiple years.
With continued inspiration from Bahia, Brazil’s most historic state and home of premiere Bloco Afro groups, Fogo Na Roupa has developed its own style of bloco dance and music coined “Fogolystic”. Encompassing rhythmic Latin drum patterns layered with strong African based compositions and contemporary Hip-Hop funk, Director Carlos Aceituno has created innovative fusions that meld traditional styles with modern influences.
Floorshows by Fogo Na Roupa present a full spectrum of Brazilian dance, from the sizzle of samba to the gravity defying capoeira (a Brazilian martial art), from the serene dances of the deities to the irresistible dances of the streets, Fogo Na Ropa will bring you to your feet with non-stop energy and excitement!
