Videos of Fresno State Commencement available; Hooding Ceremony video online

Video coverage of the 95th Commencement at California State University, Fresno at the Save Mart Center and two other graduation events is available for purchase on DVD and the Hooding Ceremony is available for viewing online.

A two-hour DVD of the Commencement held May 20 can be purchased for $15 by contacting Fresno State’s Digital Production Group at 559.278.5268 or emailing johnre@csufresno.edu. Delivery takes 2-3 weeks.

Also available:

The Kremen School of Education and Human Development Convocation on May 19. A 90-minute DVD is $15 and can be ordered by calling the dean’s office at 559.278.0210.

The Latino Commencement Celebration the evening of May 20, is the subject of a three-hour DVD, available for $30 at /www.csufresno.edu/LCC/. Yrma Rico, the Orange Cove girl who became one of the nation’s top Spanish-language broadcast investors, was honored at the Latino celebration for contributions to the Latino community. She told the graduates, their families and friends that she succeeded because she held fast to a philosophy of “Why not me and how do I get from here to there?” The DVD will be ready for mailing in June. The Division of Graduate Studies also has streaming video of the Hooding Ceremony on May 19 at its Web site, www.csufresno.edu/gradstudies/. However, individual copies of the Hooding Ceremony are not available for purchase.

The Hooding Ceremony video is divided into 17 segments to cover the entire 2 1/2-hour event. Additional information is available by calling 559.278.2448.

Individual departments and colleges/schools determine whether they want video coverage of their event by contracting with the Digital Production Group, whose Web site is http://www.csufresno.edu/aic/dpg.

A special clip featuring the conferral of an honorary doctorate on the late James McClatchy, who died May 26 less than a week after receiving the Doctor of Humane Letters at the May 20 Commencement, was also produced and is available at http://fresnostatenews.com/2006/05/McClatchy Statement.htm.

Total guest attendance in the Save Mart Center for five of the events held there was 25,246:

(Friday) College of Agriculture Science and Technology – 1,949; Craig School of Business – 3,593; Hooding Ceremony – 3,325.

(Saturday) Main Commencement – 7,979; Latino Commencement Celebration – 8,400.

The Class of 2007 Commencement at Fresno State is set for May 19, 2007.
