Dr. Karen Carey, associate dean of the College of Science and Mathematics at California State University, Fresno, has been named dean of the Division of Graduate Studies.

Carey, a school psychologist, joined the Department of Psychology in 1989. For 16 years, she served as the coordinator of the School Psychology Program, and for two years (1996-98) as co-director of the Joint Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership.In August 2005, she began her current appointment as the associate dean.

Since joining the faculty at Fresno State, Carey has had 28 publications, 60 professional presentations and seven funded grant proposals.

Carey received her bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University, her master’s in science from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas and her Ph.D. in school psychology from the University of Cincinnati.

Carey succeeds acting Graduate Studies dean Dr. Dianne Dickerson.
