The community response to the bookstore’s fund drive for Virginia Tech in the first two days has generated enough interest that more shirts have been ordered, as well as an additional hooded sweatshirt and a second t-shirt with a different design. The new items are expected to arrive early in the week of April 30. They also will be available on the Website (www.kennelbookstore.com).

Contributions to the families of victims of last week‘s Virginia Tech tragedy can be made by purchasing “VT” t-shirts and hats that arrived at the Kennel Bookstore Wednesday.

Proceeds form the maroon t-shirt that says “VT-Virginia Tech” and tan baseball cap that has the letters “VT” will go to the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund set up by Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University after 32 students and faculty were killed on campus April 16 by a student, who took his own life.

Fresno State paid tribute Monday to the victims with a forum and memorial. Students organized a candlelight vigil at Fresno State last week.

“Fresno State’s Kennel Bookstore wanted to do its part in helping those who were affected by this terrible tragedy,” said Ron Durham, manager of the bookstore.

The shirt and hat sell for $13.99 each. All proceeds over the cost of the merchandise will be sent to the fund.

Virginia Tech established the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund to aid in the healing process and to provide an opportunity for supporters to remember and honor the victims of the tragic events.
