University harvest helps Valley needy

Citrus trees at University House, home of Fresno State President John Welty, center, were harvested Saturday and 2,739 pounds of fruit donated to the Community Food Bank. Participating were youth and parents from three 4-H Clubs (Fowler, Fairmont and Kingsburg), Smittcamp Honors College, University High School, Clovis FFA and the Community Food Bank staff and board of directors. Dana Wilkie, CEO of the Community Food Bank, said the citrus, which has an approximate value of $4,629, will be distributed via CFB partner pantries, to Central Valley residents this week.
